Flickr Instructions Minimize

Note: If you have not yet visited the FIRSTWA Media Crew Home Page, please do that before reading on...

This page explains the process of registering your team with Flickr (owned by Yahoo) as well as linking your team with the FIRSTWA Media Crew. If you encounter any problems while you are reviewing the steps below, or if you have any questions about the Media Crew, please contact me by email at media@firstwa.org.

I look forward to working with you over the upcoming weeks and through the competition time.

Thank You,

-Alex Herreid
FIRSTWA Media Coordinator

If you find that you have difficulty with the text instructions, an instructions set with screenshot step-by-step help is available here

1) The first step to being ready to work on the FIRSTWA Media Crew is registering for a Flickr account, which is done through Yahoo as they are the owner of Flickr. Please CLICK HERE to go to the registration page.
Enter the following information:
-Your Team Name in the First and Last Name fields.
-Your Birthday should be Jan 1, 1989.
-Your "Yahoo ID/Email" MUST be "FRC____" where ____ is your team number. If this is not available, please email us at the above address before continuing.
-The other information you may enter as desired.

2) Click “Create My Account”. Then enter your registration password and select “Sign In."

3) When you login you will see the Flickr registration process, which now must be linked with your Yahoo account. For your Flickr screen name, which you set on the page you are now seeing, you should follow the same pattern as when you registered ---> “FRC___”  where ___ is your team number.

4) After you click the "Create New Account" button, you will see the main menu or home screen of Flickr. This is what you will normally see when you login to your Flickr account to upload pictures and to change settings.

5) Hover over the “Groups” header, and it will expand. Then select “Search for a Group." That is the third option down.

6) If you enter “FIRSTWA Media Crew” in the search box, you will see the FIRSTWA Logo and the FIRSTWA Media Crew Group appear. Click on the name of the group. This will bring up detailed information about the group’s presence on Flickr. Then select the “Join This Group” button under the title of the Group. (Furthest button to the right)
This will begin the process of linking your team to the FIRSTWA Media Crew

7) Please carefully read and discuss the FIRSTWA Media Crew’s rules with any or all persons who will be sharing your team’s account. Everyone must agree to abide by the rules to insure safe and proper usage of photographs and videos, as well as remaining within the boundaries of FIRST. When you press the “I Agree” button to the group rules, you will see a message screen to email the group Admin.

8) Copy the following message into the "Your Message" box and replace the information where needed.

"Hi Admin,
My name is ____________ and I am the media representative for team FRC_____. I agree to the terms on the previous page, and am ready to start working with the FIRSTWA Media Crew.
Thanks,
_____________________"

9) Once you click “Send This” you will see a confirmation screen that we have received your information.

This the end of the process for creating your team account, and linking it to the FIRSTWA Media Crew.
Feel free to customize your teams Flickr account as you wish, and to utilize the account for photos and videos beyond the requirements of the Media Crew.

Please see the “How to Upgrade to Pro” and “How to Upload Photos” documents for more instructions about Flickr.

Happy Flickring
