FIRST Tech Challenge Quick Facts

Who is the program aimed at

  • For Late middle and High School aged students
  • Up to 10 students per team
  • Up to 3 mentors per team

Game Format

  • Matches played in a 12 foot by 12 foot field
  • Alliances of robots compete against each other for score
  • Use of sensors, programming, mechanical engineering principles and team work
  • Autonomous and teleoperated phases of play
  • Uneven surfaces, manipulation of objects and navigation

Cost

  • Registration through FIRST is $275
  • Event Registration Fee in Washington State is  $100
  • T-shirts, hotel and travel cost will vary
