What is it?
The FIRSTWA Media Crew is a group of representatives from the FRC teams in Washington that capture photos and videos of their team (students, mentors, parents, everyone!) in action. This content is then uploaded via Flickr to FIRSTWA. See the sections below for more details…
Purpose of the FIRSTWA Media Crew:
With an entrance fee of over $5000 per team for the annual competition, the importance of fundraising and finding sponsors for the FRC program has increased exponentially over the past year. Yet, there are currently no places for teams to access where they are able to retrieve media (photos and videos) for their fundraising and promotional efforts. Through the media crew project, teams will have access to pictures and video from teams across the state in addition to those produced on behalf of the organization’s Washington branch (FIRSTWA).
What does you team receive for participating?

Similar to in St. Louis, you may have a media representative on the playing field with your drive team.

Assistance with Website Embedding
|
You will have help with getting media from your Flickr account onto your team’s website.

Pictures from around the State
|
You will be able to see and use pictures from all the teams participating in the Media Crew around the State.

Season History and Archive
|
Through your participation, and if you follow the guidelines in the “Cheat Sheets” your team will have built up an archive of your work throughout the season and at completion.

Seattle Regional – The Big Screen!

You never know, you just may see your photo or video on the big screen at the Seattle Regional!

How to Get Involved!!

Specific Details:
Who?
We would like to have one media representative from each team in Washington State. This person will be our contact for the FIRSTWA Media Crew, and receive updates and information from us via email.
Where?
Because we are looking for great pictures and videos, you (or people you work with on your team) will need to be proactive about attending your team’s meetings and competitions, so that you will be able to build your library. Build, programming, strategy, almost any type of meeting will work. The important thing is that you capture the moment! There is no travel involved specifically for the Crew, with the possible exception of attending the Seattle Regional if you are able.
How?
All you need to do is take your favorites / the best of the photographs you and your team capture, and upload them to Flickr. There are simple instructions attached to this page. Then, at various points in the season we will contact you about receiving your benefits, which are described above.
