Regional Assignments
The organizing committee for Seattle, in conjunction with FIRST, had previously announced that we were going to balance teams between the Cascade and Olympic regionals. Now that kickoff has passed, we are going to implement this shuffle. We had previously announced that we would have a simple formula for implementing this change. I will explain that in just a moment.
Our two fields, Cascade and Olympic, will run independently during the day. We will all share one pit area. Each will have it's own set of awards, judges, referees. This is going to be exciting, and your team will have a great time.
The shuffle is going to follow a straight forward algorithm. Using the registrations as of Kickoff, we have assigned your team to either the Cascade or Olympic regional based on your team number. The lowest number team (Team 115 Monta Vista High) was assigned to the Cascade Field. The second team (192 from Gunn High) was assigned to the Olympic Field. Team 360 to Cascade, Team 473 Olympic, etc. All other teams were subsequently assigned to alternating fields based on this pattern. This shuffle is only happening once.
