FIRSTWA is made up entirely of volunteers. We understand the importance of getting young people involved and inspired in the possibilities of science and technology. We invite you to join us. We have many levels at which you can volunteer.

Volunteer for the 2008 Microsoft Seattle FRC Regional

Please visit the FIRST Volunteer Registration Page. If you have previously volunteered with FIRST, use your login information.

Before filling out the on-line form, you will need the following:

• Contact information for two references. Please accumulate current and accurate telephone number(s) and e-mail addresses for these.
• Inform the references that they will be receiving a call from our FIRST screeners and that their prompt reply is important to the application process.
• During the process, you are asked what volunteer position you want to fill and what competition you are available for. Choose the position you want to fill and the Microsoft Seattle Regional in Tacoma, WA on 3/20/2008 - 3/22/2008 as the event.

Event Staffing / General Volunteers Year Round

We stage several events every year and are eager to have you join us. We need a wide range of volunteers, ranging from people willing to help us with logistics to judges and technical experts. If you would like to be on our list of potential volunteers for 1 or 2 days a year, please allow us to add you to our mailing list. We promise that the list is very rarely used, and we will never sell or rent your information to anyone. We will merely contact you to inform you that a volunteer opportunity is available.

Mentoring

Are you interested in direct involvement with a team? Mentors are the foundation of the FIRST community. We are actively seeking mentors for all of our programs. If you are a person who would like to mentor a team in your area, we would be happy to try and find a team of interested students for you to help.

We take the mentor relationship very seriously. We hope you will as well. It is hard work, it requires a fair amount of time and dedication. The personal reward of being a mentor is unlike any other experience. You will have direct impact on the lives of the students you mentor.

Mentors are put through a screening process and background checks before they are allowed to work directly with students.

Organizing committees

Our events are all planned and executed  by groups of individual volunteers. We are actively recruiting volunteers to help organize various events around our state. Organizing committee members work to produce and promote our programs. We usually meet several times a year and divide up the tasks between committee members. Being on an organizing committee is a high impact position that positively affects large groups of students.

Fundraising

Most of the FIRSTWA staff are engineering mentors. Quite honestly, we are terrible fundraisers! Of all the positions we need help with, Fundraising is absolutely on the top of the list.
