FIRST Washington works to support teams through competitive grants. There are three immediate opportunities for rookie and veteran teams to apply. We encourage you to apply!
- OSPI iGrant: All public school teams 9th-12th grade are eligible to apply. To apply, districts need to log in under the school log in, since this is a building level grant. Please work through your school’s OSPI point of contact or CTE Director to secure the iGrant application. You are looking for iGrant Form 424 : Through our advocacy work this spring, now all public schools 4th-12th grade who have a FIRST program team can apply for this grant. All teams who receive this funding must compete in Washington State during the 2018/2019 season. If you were a team in the 2017-2018 season and received OSPI funding but did not compete in Washington State, you are ineligible to apply for this grant.
- FIRST Washington grant: This is a highly competitive grant with funding directed to teams/schools who are in most disadvantaged communities. If you are one of these teams, please apply! Grant Application Form for 2018-19: http://bit.ly/2IsSh8B
- Boeing Grant: Boeing grant is now open for FIRST mentors! Your team has to be mentored by either a current or former Boeing employee.
- The Boeing employee-mentored team sponsorship levels are as follows:
FIRST Robotics Competition Rookie – $4,000
FIRST Robotics Competition Veteran – $3,000
The grant application period will run through July 31, 2018. The grant application page is here, and must be completed by the Boeing mentor. Boeing folks who have questions related to FIRST should email the Boeing Global Engagement GRP Mailbox at Volunteer@exchange.boeing.com.
If your team does not yet have a Boeing mentor, please reach out into your community and ask around! There are hundreds if not thousands of Boeing employees who wish to help and just need to know that your team is wanting assistance.
